Simon Easton, a Clinical Psychologist with 20 years experience of dealing with individuals with work-related stress says:

"Stress at work is one of the most commonly cited reasons for poor work-related quality of life and high staff absenteeism, yet many employers find it difficult to identify best practice.

Research has shown that stress management courses are not necessarily effective in the long term for reducing stress at work, although they can at least signal to staff that employers are taking the issue seriously.

Evidence and experience suggest that the best practice includes addressing causes of stress at the organisational level (within the context of Quality of Working Life measures), as well as offering support to individuals experiencing high levels of stress and distress."

Simon has also written information about coping with stress at home.
